The Ramp: Birmingham
The Ramp: Birmingham - An original acrylic painting from 2022
My father used to work for The Midland Bank in the centre of Birmingham (seen here on the left of the ramp), sometimes on the front desk just off the ramp, sometimes in the car park underneath where he let up the barrier for the likes of Ron Atkinson and Rusty Lee, on their way to see the bank manager. During many jaunts to Brum in the mid-eighties (as represented here circa 1985), clothes shopping with my sister, the ramp seemed like the epicentre of the city and the first glimpse of Brum for most visitors emerging from New Street station via the shopping centre. In homage to my dad, he is featured here in his maroon Ford Escort MK1, a car that was stolen twice; once from the centre of Brum, once from outside our house while I watched on!
This painting appeared in the 2022 publication, The Birmingham Art Book by Emma Bennett, which can be ordered via my shop.
Acrylic painting has a layer of UV Matt varnish for protection. Signed on the back. Comes ready to hang with a certificate of authenticity.
Painting Dimensions W18”(45.5cm) X H24”(61cm)XD3.6cm
